Here at Wishbone we’re focused on eating high quality, fresh food. We believe that a big part of living well is eating well. Here are a few of our favourite ‘super’ ingredients and which of our Wishbone products we use them in.

 

Almonds

High in protein and vitamin E, almonds are a good source of calcium, making them a good dairy free solution to add to your diet!

Cashews

Low in cholesterol and a high source of copper – which maintains blood cells in the body.

Products: Paleo muesli & yoghurt, Paleo chocolate muesli & yoghurt , Paleo chocolate bites, Paleo muesli bites, Indonesian rice salad, Berry & yoghurt muesli.

 

Coconut Oil

High in saturated fats (the good for kind!), and a great dairy free alternative to butter that can add flavour to baking.

Dates

A strong source of dietary fibre and also rich in flavour, these are a natural alternative to refined sugar. A perfect natural pick me up!

Linseeds (flaxseeds)

High in omega 3 fatty acids. These small seeds also improve digestive function and reduce bloating after meals.

Pumpkin Seeds

Containing essential vitamins and minerals these add a delicious flavour and crunch to your meal!

Quinoa

A seed that makes another fantastic substitute for rice and couscous with a soft, light texture.

Products: Quinoa & feta salad.

 

Sesame Seeds

Adds a subtle salty flavour and a delightful crunch to salads. 

Products: Salmon & soba salad, Berry & yoghurt muesli.

 

Tamari

Made from fermented soybeans. Tamari is a great gluten free soy sauce substitute.

Products: Indonesian rice salad, Salmon & soba salad.

 

Greek Yoghurt

Helpful with digestion and an alternative protein source that can be sweet or savoury.

Products: Paleo muesli with Greek yoghurt, Paleo chocolate muesli with yoghurt.

 

Salmon

High in Omega 3 fatty acids. A great source of protein and flavour.

Products: Salmon & soba salad, Smoked salmon & egg sandwich.

 

Tapioca Starch/Flour

A starch extracted from the cassava root. A mild gluten free alternative to wheat and other grains used as an alternative flour or thickener.

Products: GF millionaires slice, GF ginger slice.

 

Avocado

Actually a fruit, Avocado is relatively low in sugar compared to other fruits. Also high in fiber, it helps regulate appetite and feeds friendly bacteria in the gut which reduces the risk of many diseases.

Products: Chicken & avocado sandwich.

 

Oats

A good source of fiber, especially beta-glucan, oats are high in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Eating oats can lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels while helping you feel fuller for longer.

Products: Porridge (available in winter), Ginger oat cookie.
